Prophets of Synesthesia: By Golden Dawn Arkestra
December 9, 2015 - April 26th, 2016
Presented by The DEN
PROPHETS OF SYNESTHESIA | GOLDEN DAWN ARKESTRA is a multi-media art installation exhibiting visual works such as hanging sculpture, sound activation, viewing stations, photography, textile artifacts and objects. The installation encourages its viewers and participants to remember their eccentric and natural connection to each other and the earth.
Golden Dawn Arkestra (GDA) is an Austin-based conceptual art collective whose mission is to use the performance of original music in conjunction with trans-formative costumed choreography to question the boundary between the Art and the audience, between attendant and participant, between dancer and musician, and therefore, propagate the continual reproduction of synesthesia – the production of a sense impression relating to one sense or part of the body by stimulation of another sense or part of the body.
In this modern age, bringing people out of their digital and physical captivation takes more than it has in the past. GDA believes that these types of distractions pretend to offer transcendence, but ultimately limit one’s real expansion of consciousness. The artists' intent is to become one with the audience for a mass experience of actual transcendence during the curated ceremony of performance. GDA aims to bring the universe together, across race, across culture, across the Arts through positive synesthesia. This installation will be the physical manifestation of Maestro and bandleader, Zapot, proselytization to join the movement, to choose an impassioned life, to take better care of the Earthship and each other.
This installation is being brought to the public in partnership with the Art Alliance Austin.
